Linda Lopez is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPCS) who has 9 years of experience in the mental health field. Linda's past work experience includes working in private practice, inpatient settings, and higher education. She works primarily with adults and couples. She has a great amount of experience working with young, college-aged adults. Linda is skilled in working with individuals who struggle with anxious thoughts/feelings, depressed mood, body image, interpersonal conflict, communication and life transitions.

Linda has a passion for helping clients address many types of unresolved trauma. She is trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and has experience helping people who struggle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Linda also has a great interest in working with women and mothers who are struggling with adjustment to motherhood, identity and other perinatal issues.

Linda completed both her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and her Master of Arts (MA) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Stephen F. Austin State University. As a counselor, Linda’s goal is to individualize treatment and meet clients where they are at. She uses a combination of evidence based treatment, such as, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and cognitive processing therapy (CPT) to help clients change and challenge their unhelpful thinking styles, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to help clients increase their psychological flexibility, as well as meditation and mindfulness-based techniques.

Linda believes that the relationships she has with her client's is a professional relationship, but a very real relationship, nevertheless. She sees value in creating an honest, genuine relationship that fosters mutual respect and leaves room for therapeutic humor. Her hope is that creating a healthy and positive therapeutic relationship with clients will also empower them to enrich the relationships in their own lives. Linda understands that sharing and being vulnerable is not always easy and would be honored to have you trust her with things that are heavy on your heart.

Outside of the office you can find Linda spending time with her family, including her German shepherd, organizing a new place in her house or socializing with friends!
